Purpose: Students explore hundreds of career options in one place at the Red Deer CAREERexpo. From art to welding to hairstyling, CAREERexpo has something for everyone, including a great opportunity to learn more about CAREERs and how students can become skilled workers.

Celebration of Excellence

Spring 2012 (Date TBD)

Location: Edmonton

Audience: educators, industry leaders and employers (trades, health services)

Purpose: Our annual Celebration of Excellence recognizes the invaluable contributions of CAREERS’ employers and educators in delivering internship programs to students. CAREERS presents awards for outstanding off-campus coordinator, RAP mentor and health mentor at this event.

Eric Newell ‘Kids in Careers’ Golf Classic

July 5, 2012

Location: Calgary

Audience: employers (trades, health services, power engineering and production field operations), other industry leaders, student interns (past and present) from CAREERS programs

Purpose: Our annual golf tournament brings together industry leaders and current and former student interns. A fun day of golf and games ends in a dinner, silent auction and a speaking program.

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) Scholarship Celebration

Fall/Winter 2012 (Date TBD)

Location: Edmonton

Audience: high school graduates working in trades, parents, trades employers, educators, government

Details: The RAP Scholarship Celebration publically recognizes students’ excellent work in RAP. Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board awards the scholarships every year to exceptional students. This dinner and awards show brings students, parents, educators and employers together to celebrate student achievement.
