Power Engineering
In CAREERS' Fourth Class Power Engineering
Program, a pilot program offered in select areas of
Alberta, students combine theory courses at school and internship
time with you. At the end of their training, they're qualified to
take the Alberta Boilers Safety Association's fourth class power
engineering exam to get certified.
CAREERS pre-screens students based on their academic records,
attendance, application and attitude. We suggest possible matches,
and you interview the students to choose the best fit for your
company.
After you hire your student intern(s), they will complete three
summer internships of about six weeks each at your job site.
So far, most youth in the program have gone on to become power
engineers or pursue third class designation, introducing
much-needed younger employees to the industry.
