Thursday, February 6, 2014 - Futures Circle (Edmonton)

Each year, CAREERS: The Next Generation Foundation organizes an evening specially dedicated to our foundation's investors, sponsors, and donors who support and donate towards the mission of our organization. We induct those who have continuously contributed to CAREERS for at least five years into the Futures Circle. We call our Futures Circle members "visionary investors in Alberta's youth".

Thursday, March 20, 2014 - Fort McMurray CAREERexpo

"A career expo to imagine, discover, and design tomorrow's career path." For the first time, in partnership with the Government of Alberta and Keyano College, CAREERS: The Next Generation is organizing a CAREERexpo with a 'try-a-trade' theme. Young students from the area and surrounding communities will be invited to participate in the showcase of varying exhibitors, with plenty of fun, interactive booths to motivate students into early career path development.

Thursday, April 24, 2014 - Grande Prairie CAREERexpo

Organized by CAREERS: The Next Generation this exciting event will bring together exhibitors from a variety of industries and high school students from the area. The result will be an educational and interactive experience for all involved, with an aim to increase career awareness and opportunities.

Thursday, May 1, 2014 - Red Deer CAREERexpo

Junior and senior high school students can explore hundreds of career options in one place at the Red Deer CAREERexpo. From art to welding to hairstyling, CAREERexpo has something for everyone, including a great opportunity to learn more about CAREERS and how students can become skilled workers.

Our annual Celebration of Excellence recognizes the invaluable contributions of CAREERS' employers and educators in delivering internship programs and the students who are Alberta's future. Each year we present awards in three separate categories:

Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - Registered Apprenticeship Information Evening (Red Deer)

Sundre High School - RAP Information Evening for Potential Employers, Students, and Parents. Brief discussion on youth in the workplace, the RAP process and some time for networking. Employers and students get the opportunity to briefly meet in a casual setting prior to interviewing for summer RAP Internships.  Call or e-mail Holly Bilton at 403-391-2321 or hbilton@nextgen.org

June 22 - 27, 2014 - Power Engineering Summer Institute (Edmonton)

All first year students making satisfactory progress in the CAREERS Power Engineering Program are invited to attend this Institute which is intended to supplement student learning within the Power Engineering curriculum, provide exposure for students to boiler operations, instruct students in plant and boiler (steam) safety, and allow students to network with other students in the program and with NAIT Power Engineer Instructors. Each day of the Institute is planned and meals will be served as part of the day. Each evening will have a supervised activity for students. Teachers and CAREERS staff will attend as chaperones during the week.

Thursday, July 3 - Eric Newell 'Kidz in Careers' Golf Classic (Calgary)

This summer event is named to honour Mr. Eric Newell, the founder of CAREERS: The Next Generation, Chair of its Board of Directors, and a champion of education for youth. Our goal is to highlight the importance of maintaining a long-term investment in workforce and career path development for Alberta in both times of prosperity and constraint. The evening prior to the golf tournament, we host the Builders of Alberta: Past, Present & Future Reception at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary with dinner, speeches, and a silent auction with the proceeds going towards CAREERS' programming. The golf tournament starts bright and early with a Texas Scramble format and includes many contests, skills challenges, student guests, and barbecue.

August 11 - 15, 2014  - Health Sciences Career Camp (Edmonton)

CAREERS: The Next Generation has partnered with Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, MacEwan University, NAIT, NorQuest College, and the University of Alberta to offer an interactive, educational, and very unique summer camp opportunity for students interested in a health career.

The 2014 Health Sciences Career Camp is geared for students enrolled in Grade 10-12 (as of September 2014). Students will tour labs, go behind the scenes at local health care facilities, participate in hands-on activities, and discover the hundreds of career paths in health care.

November 14, 2014 - 'The Future of Trades' RAP/CTS Scholarship Celebration (Edmonton)

Hosted by CAREERS, 'The Future of Trades' is a dinner and awards evening celebrating the success of the Registered Apprenticeship Program and Career & Technologies Studies Scholarship recipients. Students, parents, employers, educators, and government and industry representatives are invited to recognize and congratulate the outstanding efforts of the class of 2014.
