CAREERS partners with several industry leaders to offer customized Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) models for a particular field. A customized RAP model is one way to encourage students to explore Alberta's high-demand fields. We currently partner with these businesses in their custom programs:
BP, Nova and Quinn
BP, Nova, Quinn, CAREERS and Red Deer College partner to help high school students complete a first year apprenticeship, including the first part of their postsecondary training, before they graduate. This partnership puts students on the fast track to becoming journeymen.
Calgary Truck Dealers Association
The Calgary Truck Dealers Association's RAP Technician and Mentorship Program is designed to increase new apprentices in parts and mechanical fields relevant to the truck industry. Students in the program can begin apprenticeships in occupations like heavy equipment technician, parts technician, auto body technician and welder.
Edmonton Motor Dealers Association
Concentrating in the automotive field, our partnership with the Edmonton Motor Dealers Association places students on-site at an Edmonton dealership and educates them at NAIT. Students can explore occupations like auto service technician, auto body technician and parts technician.
Nexen Inc
An investor in CAREERS, Nexen in Long Lake is a strong supporter of power engineering and apprenticeship programs for instrument technicians, electrician, and millwrights.
Shell Canada
Our partnership with Shell aims to increase qualified candidates for trades in the oil and gas industry. Through this partnership, students can explore occupations like millwright, instrument technician, steamfitter-pipefitter and electrician.
Syncrude Canada
Syncrude Canada is a founding partner of CAREERS and one of our major supporters in getting students excited about the trades. Syncrude currently offers apprenticeship opportunities for occupations like welder, instrumentation technician, electrician, heavy equipment technician, millwright, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic, boiler maker, automotive service technician, machinist and steamfitter-pipefitter.
Suncor Energy Inc.
A founding partner of CAREERS, Suncor is a great supporter of RAP and apprenticeship programs. Suncor currently offers apprenticeship opportunities for occupations like welder, instrumentation technician, electrician, heavy equipment technician, millwright, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic, boiler maker, automotive service technician, machinist, steamfitter-pipefitter, plumber and gas fitter.
