CAREERS’ programs are your first step to an ever-growing number of career opportunities. There are no dead ends. CAREERS gives you the chance to explore your career choices today and helps you prepare for your future.

Apprenticeship, Trades and Technology

Did you know that you could kick-start your career in high school? Did you know that you could earn a great living doing a job that is interesting, well respected, and offers tons of opportunity to grow and learn? CAREERS offers three unique programs where you can explore careers through paid apprenticeships and internships while earning your high school diploma:

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)

RAP is an Alberta Education Program that allows you to go to school, apprentice in a trade of your choice, get paid, and earn up to 40 high school credits. Learn more about RAP.

Forestry Youth Education Initiative

Are you interested in exploring a career in the forestry industry?  If so you can participate in a six-week internship in Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level, and La Crete where you earn high school credits, receive safety training through a fun summer camp and gain entry into the forestry industry while getting paid! Learn more.

Skiled Workforce (AHEAD) Program

This program offers you mentorship and training through a paid summer internship in the roadbuilding and construction sector in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer. Learn more.

Health Services

So you’re thinking about a career in health services, but with so many choices out there, how can you pick the right path for you?

CAREERS is here to help. Through our six-week summer internship program, you can try out a career in health services, earn 10 high school credits towards your diploma and get paid! Hundreds of Alberta high school students have already stepped into the shoes of health professionals in hospitals, retirement homes, dental offices, or other public and private facilities.
