Skilled Workforce (AHEAD) Career Development

The ARHCA Program is a great way for grade 11 and 12 students in the Calgary, Edmonton, Cold Lake, Bonnyville Lethbridge or Red Deer areas to gain hands-on experience in any of the following careers.

  • CAAD
  • Construction Surveyor
  • Engineering Technologist
  • Safety/Environmental Technologist
  • Equipment Operator
  • Labourer
  • Logistics
  • Geologist
  • Land Surveyor
  • Engineering

The Program is an opportunity which offers mentorship, paid summer internships and training in the roadbuilding and heavy construction sector. You can participate in entry-level paid work experience  through the summer periods, which upon completion, could lead to entry into an employer based industry certified occupation and/or a Post Secondary Certification and/or Diploma, and/or into workplace employment which would eventually lead to one of several career pathways.

How it works:

Step 1: Attend an informational workshop.

Step 2: Apply for admission by filling out the ARHCA Application Form and submitting it to your Work Experience Coordinator.

To qualify for the program you must:

  • Be on track to graduate
  • Maintain good school attendance
  • Demonstrate employability skills such as personal management and team skills

Please note: recent high school graduates are eligible if they wish to follow the application process.

Step 3: If you qualify, you will be assigned to a ARHCA member contractor for a placement interview.
