Forestry Youth Education Initiative

Do you have an interest in exploring a career path in the forestry industry?  If so you can participate in a six-week internship in Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level, and La Crete where you earn high school credits, receive safety training through a fun summer camp and gain entry into the forestry industry while getting paid! Each year there are approximately 10 internships available with participating northwest Alberta forestry industries.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 or 11 high school student
  • On-track to graduate with strong science and math skills.
  • Love of the outdoors.
  • Good physical shape.
  • Capable of working in a team.
  • Good school and community citizenry.
  • Excellent school attendance record.
  • Parent or guardian support.
  • Reliable transportation to worksite.
  • School recommendation.

Talk with your school counselor and Work Experience Coordinator if you are interested in a Forestry Youth Education internship.
